California Uber Alles (Ronald Reagan version)

Intro (lounge style):
Last call for alcohol
Last call for your freedom of speech
Drink up!  Happy hour is now enforced by law
Don't forget our house special, it's called the Tricky Dicky screwdriver
It's got one part Jack Daniels, two parts purple koolaid, and a jigger of
formaldehyde from from a jar with Hitler's brain in it we got in the
back storeroom
Happy trails to you, happy trails to you

I am Emporer Ronald Reagan
born again with fascist cravings
but still you made me President

Human Rights will soon go away
I am now your Shah today
Now I command all of you
Now you're gonna pray in school
And I'll make sure they're Christian, too

California, Uber Alles
California, Uber Alles
Uber Alles, California
Uber Alles, California

Klu Klux Klan will control you
But still you think it's natural
N****r knockin' for the master race
But still you wear a happy face

You closed your eyes, can't happen here
Alexander Haig is near
Viet Nam won't come back you say
Join the army or you will pay
Join the army or you will pay

California, Uber Alles
California, Uber Alles
Uber Alles, California
Uber Alles, California

(spoken, lounge-style)
Yeah, that's it, just relax
Have another drink, a few more pretzels, a little more MSG
Turn on those Dallas cowboys on your TV
Lock your doors
Close your minds
It's time for the two-minute warning

Welcome to 1984
Are you ready for the 3rd World War?
You too will meet the secret police
They'll draft you and they'll jail your niece

You'll go quietly to boot camp
They'll shoot you dead, make you a man
But don't you worry it's for a cause
Feeding global corporations claws

Die on a brand new poison gas
El Salvador and Afghanistan
Making money for President Reagan
Making money for President Reagan
And all the friends of President Reagan

California, Uber Alles

Lackadaisical

lackadaisical
like-a-daisy-all my life
appears to be a dream

lackadaisical?
like-a-daisy-all is not
as simple as it seems

like-a-daisy-all my life is crazy
and I often cower in the grass

but from-a-daisy-eye life keeps rolling by
so I root until these feelings pass

like-a-daisy skies at times are hazy
don't know what is truth from what's unreal

but I-am-not-at-all as this name you call
and it contradicts the hope I feel

so lackadaisical is not the word at all
call me that but you don't really know

unlike-a-daisy-ary I am quite contrary
to your ceaseless will for me to grow.

One

I feel not for the stars that shine dimly
But I feel for the deep blue water
that sings my song
And the earth that tolerates its battered life
and still holds me
And the fire that lights my night
And the air that gives me life

I'll meet their challenges and create my own
And when I am ready for the end
They'll take me in and surround me
And hide me
And make us one

Burial Wishes

Make a statue of me, or some beautiful girl, kneeling, with her left hand pointing up and her right hand in a fist.  She has a peace sign necklace and a common outfit on.  All around her, spirits hover.  Her face and hair is not perfect.  It is worn, but powerful.  Under the statue will be my name, dates, and a poem I'll have written for it.  I want the ground over my grave to be used for something.  Give me a very simple coffin and funeral.  However people come to the funeral, I want no cars or mechanics.  Just bicycles.  Don't wear black.  Wear your favorite outfit.  Casual.  Wear your favorite flower.  I would much like to have a token from everyone with me in my grave.  If my grass doesn't grow, bury me underwater (pond).  If the water is unsettled, leave me above ground until the next Saturday.  Then, bury me underground in the same place as before.  If the grass still doesn't grow, call a psychic.  If the psychic doesn't help, burn a ring around my grave.  If that doesn't work, build a hut around my grave and statue.  If that doesn't work, just leave me alone.  Then, and only then in the cycle, will it correct itself.

Fill-in-the-blanks Love Poem

My heart thumps wildly,
Loud as thunder
What I'm feeling
Makes me wonder

I sit with my thoughts
Under a tree
With the faint carving:
_______ + me

"That's what I hope, at least," I say
"But now it's a silly game to play."
One day it'll be for real
When we can see and we can feel
And if you feel the way I do
Then I could say, "_______, I love (or like) you."

So if your feelings are so true
Then I say now that I love (or like) you.

Yesterday

It is a modern world, today
But I belong to Yesterday
I have remembered what others forgot
Things that were, but now are not
And for this world I'm not to blame
'cause I belong to Yesterday

Scientists are everywhere
Making dreams come true
Studying the hemisphere
And cloning me and you

Yes, in the streets, the children play
in my world of Yesterday
They call me crazy, but I'm not
I just know what they've forgot
But all in all, there is no shame
Because I love my Yesterday

But can't you see the ones like me
Dwelling everywhere?
Living life in memories
Living without care

Some may say it's the easy way
And sometimes I agree
Not seeing what is in today
Is that really peace?

I don't think that I can stay
In my world of Yesterday
I won't forget the things I know
But I must let my own self show
And though things will not be the same
I'll still belong to Yesterday

Living hi or living low
Be what you can be
There isn't just one way to go
Just one that sets you free

Well, slowly, I have slipped away
From my world of Yesterday
I still go back there once or twice
But it's no longer paradise
I am new, what can I say?
Still, I'll remember Yesterday
